Abstract

The low level of student learning outcomes on work and energy material for class X SMA Negeri 6 Pekanbaru makes this problem important to research. This research aims to describe the improvement in cognitive learning outcomes of class X students through the application of thinking-aloud pair Problem Solving and compare it with conventional learning carried out in Class This research uses the Intact Group Comparison type. The population was 343 class X students at SMA Negeri 6 Pekanbaru with samples from science 4 and science 3 classes. The instrument used in data collection was a cognitive learning outcomes test (cognitive domain C1 to C5) on work and energy materials. Data on students' cognitive abilities were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The research results showed that the cognitive abilities of the experimental class students were higher in the good category (81.33%) and the results of the inferential analysis showed significant differences between the experimental class and the control class. Thus, the application of the Thinking Aloud Pair problem-solving learning model can improve cognitive abilities for better work and energy material for class X high school students.
