ASSESSMENT OF FIRST SHARIA HOSPITAL CERTIFICATION IN INDONESIA FACING THE GLOBAL COMPETITION

Abstract


Hospital is the most complex economic service of human life and livelihood. Unfortunately,  in Indonesia , a country with   Muslim population majority, there is no certainty of the implementation of sharia because there is no institution that can assess it. The purpose of this study is to obtain concrete and factual information on Sharia hospital certification by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Council of Ulama  at Sultan Agung Semarang Hospital in facing  global competition. This research was conducted with ac ase study design at Sultan Agung Semarang Islamic Hospital with type B education with qualitative approach obtained through document search, facility trace and trace of attendants and patients.  The results of the study showed that the certification result of assessment was mumtaz (excellent) for both  sharia standard of management and sharia service standard. This is the highest appraisal attribute that can last for 5 years. This sharia certification is even the first in the world, meaning the hospital is the firstly ready hospital  in the global economic competition if compared with  any other hospitas that has not been certified as sharia. In addition, the certification  has made this hospital to be become the hope of Muslims in Indonesia to  implement its sharia principles  in the field of health services.
