STUDY OF ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM THROUGH COOPERATIVE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM, UMKM, IN GLOBALIZATION ERA IN WEST SUMATERA

Abstract

The problem of poverty is a classical, complex and multidimensional problem must be faced. The problems derives from the powerlessness and inability of communities to fulfill basic rights, the vulnerability of communities to business competition, conflict and violence, the weakness of addressing population problems, inequalities and inequities of gender, and lack of development opportunities that cause a number of areas categorized as isolated. This study discusses the empowerment of the populist economy through the empowerment program of cooperatives, UMKM in the era of globalization, especially in West Sumatra. This research is done by collecting both secondary and field data by distributing questionnaires and doing interview. The method of analysis used is regression model, in this case with the discussion of the magnitude of the coefficient of determination, simultaneous testing, partial testing and normality testing of the research data. The results of this study proves that the empowerment program of cooperatives helps the community to develop their efforts, especially in the face of globalization, especially in West Sumatra. The other side of the study is also able to help reduce the poverty rate faced by a country, especially in West Sumatra itself.
