Abstract


This paper attempts to theoretically explain the impact of work engagement as a mechanism that can explain the relationship between friendship at work and resilience. Furthermore, this paper explains whether friendship in the workplace has a positive effect on the resilience of health workers. If so, does work engagement mediate the mechanisms underlying the relationship between workplace friendships and health worker resilience. This paper produces four propositions, first, friendship in the workplace has a positive effect on worker resilience; second, friendship at work has a positive effect on work engagement. Third, work engagement has a positive effect on resilience; and fourth, work engagement mediates the effect of friendship at work on resilience.
