ISLAM MODERAT DAN KONTEKSTUALISASINYA (Tinjauan Filosofis Pemikiran Fazlur Rahman)

Abstract


Weakness in understanding God's verses makes it dwarf to think exclusively in attitude. Even though the Koran textually presents God's viewpoint through its words that truth as its authority is able to explain religious understanding and practice, has shown cultural diversity (multicultural), this of course leads to differences, critical attitudes and dialogue and freedom will guarantee differences of opinion, confrontation and views and debates between developing ideas especially in building a civilization. In this paper, it will be analyzed descriptively that moderate Islam and its contextualization have a strong strategy and reason, so that by including tolerant religious values and teachings it is an inclusive movement in terms of opening thoughts that free from losing dialogue skills and the ability to be critical, making it vulnerable to provocation can be overcome. The moderate Islamic movement teaches that universal values, such as tolerance, multiculturalism, loving differences have been embodied in the Koran and Sunnah. One of them is the moderate Islamic thought that was built by Fazlurahman and his contextualization with a set of systematic and comprehensive methodologies, especially those related to the development of modern Islam, which reflects modern civilization so that in reality it leads to peace and plurality and tolerance in religion.
